Canterbury Association
We have shipping papers (passenger lists, surgeons' reports, stores' etc.) covering 22 voyages to Lyttelton between 1850-52, including papers for nine of the first ships [CASP papers in CH290].
Canterbury Provincial Government
We also have shipping papers relating to 13 provincial immigration scheme voyages 1860-74.
Reports relating to immigration can be found within the records of the Canterbury Provincial Government by searching the inwards correspondence registers of the Provincial Secretary. There are also several special subject files relating specifically to immigration, as well as various reports in the Papers of the Provincial Council (1853-75)
Immigration related material from the Association and Provincial Government has also been indexed by subject (eg vessel) and name. This can be browsed by year or searched by name of vessel etc.
We also have photocopies of lists of assisted European immigrants to the Canterbury Province covering approximately 180 voyages from 1855-84 available for browsing in the Reading Room along with photocopies of selected papers relating to various voyages.
