National Radiation Laboratory

The National Radiation Laboratory is based in Christchurch. The records we have received from the Laboratory document radiation use in NZ from the 1930s and include records on the importation and transportation of radioactive materials, licensing of hospitals and companies to use radioactive substances, as well as information on accidents, the Antarctic reactor, and the proposal to use nuclear power in NZ.
