Archives New Zealand is the official guardian of the memory of Government in New Zealand. We contribute to the development of New Zealand’s identity and understanding of shared pasts.

As an Archivist, you will be helping people uncover their stories through Archives New Zealand’s collection, using your detective skills, tenacity and patience.

We need several Archivists to work in our Central Wellington Office. There are vacancies in Access Services, helping researchers using our holdings and in our Arrangement and Description section.

You’ll want to work in a changing environment. You will have good analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative and commitment to give excellent service to our customers. You will have a relevant degree, preferably with a research component.

You will build on any experience with the following:

  • the way the government works, now and in the past
  • managing archives or records with computerised tools
  • protocols governing access to information
  • Tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori

Finance Officer, Account Payable and Account Receivable 08/09-4

  • Part time position (32.5 hours per week)

Archives New Zealand is the official guardian of the memory of Government in New Zealand. We contribute to the development of New Zealand’s identity and understanding of shared pasts.

We are seeking an experienced financial administrator to join our small team. This role will build on your experience in accounts payable and receivable and allow you to broaden your finance skills in accruals and financial reporting.

If you have a background that demonstrates experience with accounting processes and financial systems and a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, together with strong customer focus and excellent communication skills, we would welcome your application.

Business Support Officer 08/09-8

  • Permanent full-time position

Archives New Zealand is the official guardian of the memory of Government in New Zealand. We contribute to the development of New Zealand’s identity and understanding of shared pasts.

We are seeking an experienced administrator to join our small team. This role will provide you with a variety of administration tasks, and exposure to a number of support functions. Do you have:

  • A ‘can do’ attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to multi task
  • Excellent organising skills
  • A desire to work with internal and external customers
  • Good time management skills

You will be working across teams as well as working within a small support group.

Co-ordinator, Environmental Sustainability 08/09-9

  • National Office
  • Part-time position (20 hours per week)

Archives New Zealand is the official guardian of the memory of Government in New Zealand. We contribute to the development of New Zealand’s identity and understanding of shared pasts.

The emphasis of this role is to co-ordinate Archives NZ’s environmental sustainability improvements and reporting and the ongoing implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Practice Action Plan and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan.

We are seeking individuals who have:

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to critically analyse complex information; and
  • Relationship management skills.

Previous relevant experience in a similar role and an understanding of Govt3 and Carbon neutral Public Service (CNPS) programmes and their requirements for Government agencies is desirable. A tertiary qualification in environmental management or a related discipline is desirable.
